process

while a lot of people love movies, we know most people don’t know every step of the process. We strive to be as clear and methodical as we can during each step, taking care to make sure you are aware and enjoying the journey.

The filmmaking process, in general, has 3 phases.

pre-production

Pre-production is the planning stage, and it’s also where the initial creative ideas are birthed.

weather.eye focuses on extensive pre-production and conversations to discover each unique story. Then, we think about how to bring that story to life in a unique way.

We create a comprehensive, visual and creative treatment to show how our filmmakers propose to communicate your story. Once a plan is set in place, we gather together the various pieces and people in order to begin shooting. We determine the number of shoot days, crew + cast + gear needed, location rentals, set design, wardrobe, etc…

production

the production process begins once all of the plans have been solidified and double checked for errors. Once everything is good to go, we start filming.

Depending on the concept, production can look very different. Sometimes you, the client, are involved. Sometimes not. Sometimes it’s a weeklong shoot, sometimes it’s a day. Sometimes we have a big crew, sometimes it’s only a few of us. Sometimes we’re traveling all across the globe, sometimes it’s right in the neighborhood. It all depends on what your needs are.

during production, we operate with efficiency in mind. Our philosophy chooses to reduce our footprint (equipment & crew) so we can spend more time creating and less time setting up. Limitations make the best art, and we find this helps us to focus on what really matters. What does this mean for you? It means you’re getting a better product for less investment.

post-production

once we have completed filming, we dump everything on our computers and begin a NEW artistic process. As we’ve all heard, sometimes things go wrong on set. The editing process helps solve those problems, and usually, everything ends up being better than we planned! Our editors will work to refine each version of the project until everyone is happy and smiley. This is also when any other post-production tasks will take place: color grading, VFX, voice-over, music scoring, etc.

we recognize that the nature of the modern world requires multiple iterations of any given project for each and every platform. However, our goal is not to let the original intent of the project be diluted towards the end of the funnel. We work with our clients to provide them the assets they need to best actualize their goals for each platform.
